What is a CVV Code?

The CVV Code or Card Verification Value is the security number on that appears on most credit cards.  Usually this number is located on the back of the credit card, and is the three digit number immediately following the credit card number. On American Express cards, the CVV number is four digits in length and imprinted on the face of the credit card.
