RECORD LABEL:    The music industry has always been a source of fascination.  Outside of the music business, only professional sports can offer the potential for great wealth, fame  and recognition. For years, major labels have controlled the industry and single-handedly determined which music made it onto the airwaves or stores.  Competition with these "giants" was difficult at best, because they had the advantages of money and manpower.  Often, this left the handful of independent labels fighting- not only for airplay, but for their lives.  Fortunately, over the last few years, these majors have found the independent label to be more of a source of new talent and revenue rather than competition.  Through the distribution deal or "label deal," these giants have managed to stay in touch with the highly lucrative Hip Hop/Rap and R& B markets without losing their grasp on the Rock, Pop, Latin and Country markets.  Now, the opportunity to break into the music industry is available as never before.  The market is wide open and anyone with the drive and ingenuity can make an impact.
